Under-cabinet range hoods are typically installed beneath kitchen cabinets and do not inherently include a chimney component. However, for kitchens with higher ceilings or specific design preferences, chimney extensions can be added to extend the range hood's structure upward, creating a continuous line to the ceiling. This not only enhances the kitchen's aesthetic appeal by providing a sleek, integrated look but also conceals ductwork, offering a cleaner appearance.

Functionality of Chimney Extensions:

1. Aesthetic Enhancement: Chimney extensions provide a seamless transition from the range hood to the ceiling, contributing to a cohesive and polished kitchen design.
2. Concealing Ductwork: They effectively hide the ventilation ducts, resulting in a tidier and more streamlined look.

Considerations When Using Chimney Extensions with Under-Cabinet Range Hoods:

• Compatibility: Not all under-cabinet range hoods are designed to support chimney extensions. It's essential to verify whether your specific model can accommodate an extension. Some manufacturers offer compatible chimney kits for their under-cabinet models.
• Ceiling Height: Measure your ceiling height accurately to determine the necessary length of the chimney extension. Extensions come in various sizes to fit different ceiling heights. For instance, Proline Range Hoods provides chimney extensions suitable for ceilings ranging from 7 to 12 feet.
• Installation Requirements: Installing a chimney extension may require additional support or modifications to your existing cabinetry or wall structure. Consulting with a professional installer is advisable to ensure safety and proper installation.

Ductless/Recirculating Option
While Proline does not offer fully ductless range hoods, many of our models can become ductless with an accessory. For under-cabinet range hoods, you'll need to purchase a recirculating kit. This kit includes a 5-inch-tall box (12 inches deep and matching the width of your hood, up to 48 inches) that allows the air to recirculate back into your kitchen. It also contains charcoal filters to clean the air.

For some wall-mounted and island hoods, the setup is even simpler—just add charcoal filters to the ducting, and you're all set for a ductless configuration.
