Open box does not mean used. Most of these units were damaged in shipping, or were returned to us before ever being installed. They may have left our warehouse once and come back, but they haven't been operated, mounted, or lived with. What you're getting is a functionally new unit with a cosmetic story.
No deposit, no obligation, and free shipping on every open box order.

The three tiers
The tier describes appearance only. Function is identical across all three.
A few minor scratches or scuffs
Cosmetically near-new. Small surface scuffs or light scratches, usually on a panel that ends up against a wall or above eye level. Most customers can't find the flaw once the hood is installed.
Typically looks like
More noticeable marks on a visible surface
Visible on inspection but not structural. Deeper scratches, a small ding, or a mark on a surface you'd see day to day. Everything works exactly as it should.
Typically looks like
Clear, obvious cosmetic damage
You will see it, and we price it accordingly. A real dent, a bent edge, or significant finish damage. Still fully functional and fully tested — this is the tier for anyone who cares more about airflow than appearance.

Discounts are off MSRP and confirmed in writing before you pay. Exact pricing depends on the model.
Questions
An open-box range hood is a brand-new unit that picked up cosmetic damage somewhere between our factory and our warehouse — a scratch in the finish, a dented edge, or a package that took a hit in transit. It has never been installed or used in a kitchen. We inspect and bench-test every one, grade the damage, photograph it, and sell it at a discount.
Every open-box unit is graded on a three-tier scale so you know exactly what you're getting before you buy. Tier 1 (Light) is a few minor scratches or scuffs, around 15% off; Tier 2 (Moderate) is more noticeable marks on a visible surface, around 25% off; Tier 3 (Noticeable) is clear, obvious cosmetic damage, around 35% off. The tier describes appearance only — function is identical across all three.
No. Damage is cosmetic only. Motors, lights, controls, and filters are tested before an open-box unit is listed, and anything with a functional fault is repaired or scrapped rather than sold. If it can't move air the way a new hood does, it doesn't go on this list.
Discounts are set by tier: 15% off for Tier 1, 25% off for Tier 2, 35% off for Tier 3. The exact price depends on the model and its MSRP, and we confirm it in writing when we send your match.
Yes. We send photographs of the specific unit — not a stock photo, and not a photo of a similar one — along with a written description of every flaw. You decide after you've seen it. Nobody is asked to buy an open-box hood sight unseen.
Open-box units carry the same manufacturer warranty as a new unit. The warranty covers function, not the disclosed cosmetic damage.
Open-box units are sold as-is and are final sale, because each one is unique and already discounted. You'll see photographs of the exact unit and can walk away before you pay.
Open-box units ship on the same freight terms as new orders. We'll confirm the exact shipping cost to your ZIP code when we send your match.
A real person on our customer service team reviews every request and replies within one business day. If we have a match, you'll get photos, the tier, the price, and the shipping estimate in that first reply. If we don't, we'll tell you that plainly and keep you on the list for when one comes in.
Open-box stock turns over constantly and it's genuinely unpredictable — we can't promise a specific model will appear. When you tell us what you're after, we hold onto the request and contact you as soon as a matching unit is graded and listed. There's no cost and no obligation.
Absolutely, and it's one of the most common reasons people use this list. If appearance matters less than airflow and budget — rentals, garages, outdoor kitchens, back-of-house — Tier 3 is usually the best value in our entire catalog.
No. Refurbished units have been used and repaired. Open-box units are new, unused, and cosmetically imperfect. Everything on this list left the factory as new stock and was damaged in handling, not in a customer's home.
Still deciding? Tell us the size and mount type and we'll do the looking.
