Got a new Proline inline blower or dealing with vibrations in another brand's?
You're in the right place. While our video above shows these steps in action, we've detailed everything you need to know right here.
Initial Inspection and Setup
When receiving your Proline 1300 CFM inline blower, proper inspection is crucial. First, examine the mounting bracket for any deformation that might have occurred during shipping. While rare, the motor's weight can occasionally bend the bracket if dropped from a significant height, even if the box appears undamaged.
Understanding the System
The inline blower features an induction motor running at 2800 RPM with crossflow impellers. It's a 100% variable speed system, which explains the characteristic hum during startup as the capacitor engages the motor. The unit includes a wall controller for fan operation and speed adjustment.
Identifying Vibration Issues
Vibration typically stems from misalignment between the motor hub and fan blade. The connection points can be off by up to 1/8 or 1/16 of an inch, creating noticeable vibration. The mounting screws have about 3/32 inch of play, which, when multiplied across five mounting points, can create significant misalignment.

Tools Required:
- Quality Phillips screwdriver
- Medium-sized flat screwdriver
- Spacing tool (Post-it notes work well when folded)
Step-by-Step Correction Process
- Loosen the five mounting screws connecting the black hub to the aluminum blade
- Create proper spacing using folded Post-it notes (approximately 4 layers thick)
- Position the spacers in a triangle pattern around the assembly
- Apply gentle pressure to maintain even spacing
- Tighten screws in a star pattern, similar to tightening lug nuts on a tire
- Test the fan at various speeds to verify balanced operation
- Complete final tightening in the same star pattern
Testing for Success
A properly balanced fan will produce a continuous tone when running. The vibration should be minimal to non-existent, and operation should be smooth across all speed settings. The motor should maintain quiet, efficient operation at both low and high speeds.
Installation Tips
For best results:
- Mount in attic space using isolation mounts
- Secure to studs for stability
- Ensure proper ventilation around unit
- Allow easy access for future maintenance
The sealed bearing, permanently lubricated motor can be installed horizontally or vertically, providing years of trouble-free service when properly balanced.
