For ceilings higher than 12 feet, you'll need custom extensions from a local metal fabrication shop. Many homeowners with high ceilings choose a black stainless steel or traditional stainless-steel finish to match their other kitchen appliances like range microwaves and cooktops.

Step 1: Measure ceiling height from floor to ceiling

Step 2: Measure from the floor to top of your range/cooktop

Step 3: Add your planned mounting distance (28-36 inch from cooktop)

Step 4: Add your range hood height (if already purchased)

Step 5: Subtract total from ceiling height = Extension space needed

Example Calculation: 12-Foot Ceiling

• Ceiling height: 144 inches
• Floor to range top: 36 inches
• Range to hood distance: 28 inches
• Hood height: 16 inches
• Total used space: 80 inches
• Extension space needed: 64 inches
